Rookie's Rewards Extension Privacy Notice
Last Updated: June 16, 2026
This Notice describes the data practices of the Rookie's Rewards browser extension (the “Extension”). It supplements our main Privacy Policy.
1. What the Extension Does
The Extension is a Chrome browser extension that helps you earn rewards on qualifying purchases, applies eligible coupons at checkout, and attributes commissions from affiliate networks.
2. Authenticated-Session-Only Data Collection
The Extension collects data only while you are signed in to your Package Retriever account through the Extension popup. When you are not signed in, the Extension does not transmit browsing data to our servers. We enforce this property in code and audit it on each release; if we identify any deviation from this standard, we will publicly disclose it within seven (7) days of confirmation.
3. What the Extension Collects (Authenticated Sessions Only)
On supported retailer sites and search engines, while authenticated and on HTTPS pages only:
  • Product information extracted from the page (name, price, brand, SKU, availability, image, category, rating);
  • Shopping events (page views on product pages, variation changes, image views, add-to-cart, purchase confirmations);
  • Search queries and results on search engines (including pagination and click-through);
  • Coupon application results (code, success/failure, estimated savings);
  • Engagement metrics (time on page, scroll depth, referring URL).
4. AI Assistant Platforms — Shopping Intent Detection
On AI assistant platforms (including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, and Perplexity), the Extension monitors network responses using a keyword-based shopping-intent filter running locally in your browser. The filter checks for shopping-related keywords (such as “buy,” “recommend,” “compare,” “price”) in the AI's response.
If the filter does not detect shopping intent: the response is discarded immediately. Nothing is transmitted to our servers.
If the filter detects shopping intent: we transmit a limited excerpt of the conversation to our servers for product classification — up to 500 characters of your query and up to 8,000 characters of the AI response. We extract product names, outbound links, and pricing information from this excerpt. We do not transmit the complete, unfiltered conversation history on any AI platform.
For cross-session attribution, we may store your most recent shopping-relevant query in the Extension's local storage for up to five minutes, so that we can connect your research to a subsequent retailer visit.
5. What the Extension Does Not Collect
The Extension does not:
  • Collect or transmit passwords, authentication credentials, or checkout form fields;
  • Collect or transmit payment card numbers, CVVs, billing fields, or bank account information;
  • Record keystrokes, take screenshots, or capture audio or video;
  • Collect personal health or medical queries or responses;
  • Collect the contents of private messaging applications, email, or social media;
  • Run on non-HTTPS pages.
5A. Device Identifier
Upon installation, the Extension generates a persistent, pseudonymous device identifier (UUID) unique to your browser profile. This identifier is stored locally and transmitted to our servers with periodic status updates (approximately every 60 seconds) along with basic platform metadata (such as your operating-system platform identifier). We use it for session management, fraud prevention, duplicate-reward detection, and analytics. The device identifier does not contain personally identifiable information and is reset when you uninstall the Extension. For users in the European Economic Area, the lawful basis for processing the device identifier is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR.
5B. Price History and Local Storage
The Extension stores data locally on your device using the browser's extension storage APIs, including: authentication tokens, your device identifier, per-product price-history records, affiliate-activation timestamps, and message retry queues. Price history data is retained locally for up to 24 months to power price-trend and deal-detection features. You may clear this data at any time by uninstalling the Extension or clearing its storage through your browser's extension management settings.
5C. Aggregated and De-Identified Data
We may use data collected by the Extension in aggregated or de-identified form for analytics, market trends, benchmarking, and product improvement. De-identified data cannot be linked back to you or your account.
6. Permissions Used
  • storage — for authentication tokens, attribution metadata (max 5 min local retention), and user preferences;
  • activeTab / host_permissions — to read publicly visible product data on the current retailer page you are viewing, only while authenticated;
  • notifications — to alert you of earned rewards and coupon availability;
  • tabs — to detect the current domain to check for retailer eligibility.
7. Chrome Web Store Limited Use Commitment
Our use of information received from Google APIs and the Chrome Web Store complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We:
  • Use data received from the Extension only to provide or improve its user-facing features (rewards, coupons, affiliate attribution);
  • Do not sell data received through the Extension;
  • Transfer data received through the Extension only as necessary to provide or improve user-facing features, comply with applicable laws, or as part of a merger or acquisition where the acquirer agrees to honor this commitment;
  • Do not use data received through the Extension for serving personalized advertisements, other than contextual rewards and coupons presented within the Extension itself;
  • Do not allow humans to read the Extension data, except with your affirmative consent, to perform security investigations, or to comply with applicable laws.
8. Affiliate Activation and Disclosure (FTC)
When you click to activate rewards on a supported retailer's site, the Extension sets an affiliate tracking cookie on that retailer's domain. For most affiliate networks, this occurs in the background without navigating away from the page. For Amazon, the page refreshes with the tracking tag in the URL, as required by Amazon's program. Affiliate cookies set by the Extension may overwrite existing affiliate cookies from other sources. When you make a qualifying purchase, Package Retriever may earn a commission from the retailer or affiliate network. This is a “material connection” within the meaning of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides (16 C.F.R. Part 255). These commissions fund the Rewards program and the Services.
9. Retention
Shopping events captured through the Extension are retained for thirteen (13) months for attribution and analytics. After that, data is deleted, anonymized, or de-identified, except where a longer retention is required for audit, fraud investigation, or legal obligation.
10. Your Controls
You may sign out of the Extension at any time, revoke individual permissions in your browser, or uninstall the Extension entirely. Uninstalling removes the Extension's local storage on your device. To exercise privacy rights with respect to data we have collected on our servers, see Sections 16–17 of our Privacy Policy.
